The Master Locksmith Method™: 100+ Locksmith Job Sheets, each with the tools, the parts, the steps and the price of the job, so you can rekey your first door this week and take the lockouts, rekeys and new installs people in your town already call for.

“The easiest money out there that will find you has to be for lockouts.”
“Work around your schedule, and if you only get 1 out of 4 calls it's still Extra Money for You”
Locks wear out, keys get lost and tenants move out in every town, every month. There are about 46 million rented homes in the US, and roughly 4 in 10 apartment leases turn over every year. In Texas, the law gives landlords 7 days to rekey after a new tenant moves in. Somebody gets paid for every one of those doors. With a job sheet, it can be you.
“The realtors are very happy with this, because we are always very prompt”

Leases turn over on the 1st of every month. Every time a tenant moves out, the landlord has to change or rekey the locks before the next one moves in. Every house that sells needs new keys. Airbnb hosts change codes between guests, and more people put a smart lock on the front door every year. None of that waits for a good economy.
Enough time to practice on your own lock, rekey your first door and post your number before the next round of tenants gets their keys.
You already have the drill, the screwdrivers and the steady hands. The Method turns them into lock jobs people pay for, one call at a time.
Not safecracking or the high-security work that takes years. The lockouts, rekeys, new deadbolts and landlord turnovers that come up every week in every town. Every job sheet tells you what the job pays.
A rekey takes 20 to 40 minutes once you've done a few. An evening call, a Saturday morning, a landlord who needs four doors done before the 1st. You decide which calls you take.
A home lockout takes your time and your tools, and almost no parts. A rekey costs you a few dollars of pins per cylinder. The price sheets show you what to charge, so your time never goes for free.
$27 for the Method and about $30 for a rekey kit to practice on your own lock. After that, the customer pays for the parts on every job.
You can have the steadiest hands in the county and the nicest pick set money can buy. If you're still figuring out every lock on YouTube while the customer stands there watching, you're throwing money in the trash.
The problem with most handymen isn't skill. It's improvising. Every time you:
…you're burning your profit. You're working for free.
The guys who make money on locks aren't naturals. They open the sheet, bring the right parts, follow the steps and quote the price before they touch the door. The Master Locksmith Method gives you 100+ of those sheets.
There's no off-season for locked doors, lost keys and new tenants. Someone in your town is calling a locksmith today, and most of those calls are jobs you can learn from a single sheet.

One evening. Check your tools against the list, pick up a rekey kit, and take apart a lock you own: a spare knob or the deadbolt on your shed. You'll see how the pins work in ten minutes.
Your own front door first, then a friend's or a family member's, with their OK. Open the rekey sheet, follow the steps, and test the new key ten times.
The price sheet gives you the number. Set up your Google Business Profile and post on Nextdoor with the Get-The-Call Kit, then tell the landlords and realtors you know.
Check the customer's ID and address, quote before you start, follow the sheet and hand over the invoice. Then ask who else needs new keys.
That's it. One week. And just like that, your toolbox takes lock calls.
Every one of these is a job sheet inside, with its tools, its parts and its price.
New deadbolt$100–300
House rekey$70–160
Smart lock install$50–350
Mailbox lock$75–200
Handleset install$100–300
Unit turnover$70–160From the first lock you take apart to the first invoice you hand over.
Most guys learn locks one YouTube video at a time and never see the whole picture. Here you learn how the pin tumbler works once, and then how every call runs: the customer calls, you verify, you quote, you follow the sheet, you invoice.

The first thing you open. The starter tools, what a rekey kit is, and your first practice rekey on your own lock, laid out in pictures so you know what you're looking at before you take anything apart.

Organized by the call you get, not by lock theory. Every sheet shows the time, the tools, the parts, the steps and the price range for the job, with the verification step at the top whenever the door isn't yours.

A key that won't turn, a deadbolt that drags, a door that has to be lifted to lock, a key snapped in the cylinder. Here you find the cause and fix it, usually without replacing a thing.

One property manager can turn into ten doors a month. The checklist, the key control log and the per-door quote make you look like the guy who already does this for other buildings.

A written quote gets a yes faster than a number said in the driveway. Price list, quote, invoice and the customer authorization form that proves the owner asked for the job. Fill in your name, print, done.

The phone has to ring before you can do the job. How to set up your Google Business Profile, what to post on Nextdoor, and a flyer ready to print for the landlords, realtors and neighbors around you.

I've been opening doors and rekeying locks for more than 15 years. The first year I lost money on half my calls, because I was guessing: wrong part in the truck, wrong price out of my mouth.
So I started writing every job down on a sheet. The tools, the parts, the steps, what I charged. That stack of sheets is what you're getting.
You don't need my 15 years. You need the sheet, a steady pair of hands and the owner's OK. The rest is just doing the job.

No. This is a digital method: you get instant access to the Method, every job sheet and every printable the moment you pay. Nothing is shipped, so there's no waiting and no shipping cost.
It depends on your state. As of January 2025, 13 states require a locksmith license for paid work: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Virginia. Some cities and counties ask for their own permit too. Before you take paid jobs, check with your state's licensing board, or find your state on the licensing page of the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA). Practicing on your own locks never needs a license.
Yes. Learning how locks work and working on locks is legal. The rule inside the Method is simple: you only work on your own locks, or on a lock whose owner asked you to, and you check the customer's ID and address before every lockout. The Method doesn't teach how to open locks that aren't yours, and nothing in it is for getting past someone else's lock.
If you can use a drill and a screwdriver, yes. The Lock Shop Start shows you the tools and walks you through a practice rekey on your own lock, in pictures. Start with rekeys and new deadbolts: they're the calls you'll get most, and they're the easiest to learn.
Yes. Most handymen swap a lock when asked and stop there. The job sheets add the rekeys, lockouts, landlord turnovers and smart locks, each with the price to charge, plus the authorization form and the landlord pack that bring repeat work.
A drill, screwdrivers, a rekey kit (about $30), a plug follower and a key gauge. The Lock Shop Start lists every tool and what it costs, and every job sheet lists exactly what that job takes.
Each job sheet shows the typical price range US locksmiths charge for that job, like $50–175 for a home lockout or $70–160 to rekey a house. What you charge depends on your area and how fast you get. Results are not guaranteed and depend on your effort, prices and area.
People who already know you, your Google Business Profile, Nextdoor, landlords, property managers, realtors and Airbnb hosts. The Get-The-Call Kit shows you where to start in the first week.
You can watch a lot of videos. They're scattered, they skip the parts list, and none of them tell you what to charge or how to check who owns the door. The Method gives you 100+ jobs in one place, each with the tools, the parts, the steps and the price.
The basics: car lockouts with the owner verified, plain key copies, and how to tell which keys have a chip and need a programmer. Chip keys and fobs are their own trade, and the Method tells you when to refer them.
No. Lock work is bench work and door work: no ladders, no heavy lifting. Plenty of guys start it after another trade.
Most calls take under an hour. You decide which ones you take: evenings, Saturdays, or the landlord who needs four doors done before the 1st.
No. You can do as many jobs as you want, but the Method and the printables are for you. Sharing or reselling them isn't allowed.
The photos on this page are illustrations that show the kind of jobs in the Method. Inside, every job sheet has its own tools, parts and steps, so you know exactly what you're doing.
